It all started in the summer of 1979. My friend Mike Der and I went on a week long Backpacking trip with the local YMCA. We started in Tuolumne Meadows, headed north and deep into the wilderness for 6 days. It was the toughest thing I had ever done, but I was hooked. Since that trip, I have been backpacking for the last 30 years. My travels have taken me to Yosemite, Lassen, Desolation, Pt. Reyes and many other wilderness areas of California.
